Even in the age of next-day delivery, self-checkout, and gigabit internet, some things can’t be rushed. The cars, trucks, and SUVs seen here won’t reach dealer lots for anywhere from a few months to a few years. Some of them are about to roll down the assembly line. Others haven’t emerged from the design studio yet. We’re telling you about them now, though, because these are the vehicles that will matter, regardless of how many boring crossovers automakers puke out. These are worth the wait.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is undergoing a significant evolution for its second generation. Originally slated for 2026, its debut has been pushed to 2027. While the SUV will retain Alfa Romeo’s characteristic sensuous styling, it will now be available with a hybrid or fully electric powertrain. The Stelvio will move to the STLA Large platform, which might shift the compact SUV into mid-size territory. A future performance-oriented Quadrifoglio variant could feature the Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, shared with its platform-mate, the Dodge Charger.

Audi
Audi is developing a new electric sports car based on the radical Concept C. Positioned between the former TT and R8 sports cars, the Concept C will introduce a new design language for the brand, featuring bold lighting, clean surfacing, and a high-quality interior. The Audi will share its platform with the upcoming Porsche 718 EVs and is expected to offer both a rear-wheel-drive single-motor setup and an all-wheel-drive dual-motor powertrain. The TT successor is anticipated to launch sometime in 2027 with a price approaching $100,000.

Previewed by the Vision Neue Klasse concept, the next generation of BMW’s renowned 3-series sports sedan is expected to include both internal-combustion and battery-electric variants. The electric version, known as the i3, will ride on a new EV platform featuring 800-volt architecture. The i3 will also spawn an all-electric M3 that will feature a powerful quad-motor powertrain. The i3 is anticipated to debut in 2026, with the iM3 following in 2027.

Pickup trucks dominate the automotive landscape in the United States, and Chevrolet is preparing a major overhaul of its flagship model for 2027. The next-generation Silverado will go on sale by the end of the year, featuring updated styling that maintains the current generation’s assertive appearance. Significant under-the-hood changes are expected, where an updated version of the current turbocharged four-cylinder will be joined by a new small-block V-8, likely measuring 5.7 liters and producing more power than the current 5.3-liter’s 355 horsepower. Rumors also suggest a 6 percent improvement in fuel economy from the new V-8. A Duramax diesel six-cylinder is expected to carry over as well, and the Silverado should maintain a starting price of around $40,000 for the base WT trim.

The Corvette subbrand is expanding, and a Corvette-badged performance SUV is set to join the lineup. Expected to ride on GM’s Alpha platform, this SUV will feature a range of engine choices, from a turbocharged four-cylinder at the low end to a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 in the top Z0-something performance model. This vehicle is anticipated in the near future, though nothing has been officially confirmed.

Just as the Hemi V-8 returned to the Ram 1500 pickup, it will also be reintroduced to the Dodge Charger. The electric Charger Daytona has not performed as well as hoped, and the return of the V-8 should help the muscle car regain the favor of Dodge enthusiasts. The V-8 is expected to return in 5.7-liter, 6.4-liter, and Hellcat-badged supercharged 6.2-liter configurations, with power outputs remaining largely unchanged, and the Hellcat should easily surpass 700 horsepower. The Hemi V-8 is anticipated to reappear in the Charger sometime in 2026.

The Ferrari Luce marks a new era for the renowned Italian automaker. While Ferrari plans to sell its iconic V-12 engines for as long as possible, it will also cater to a different market with an electric high-performance SUV. The low-slung crossover will accommodate at least four passengers, and Ferrari intends to develop the entire powertrain in-house, including the high-voltage battery and motors. The Ferrari Luce EV is expected to start at over $500,000, and the Prancing Horse marque should reveal the vehicle in early 2026.

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC arrives as a successor to the Shelby GT500, positioned between the standard 500-hp Dark Horse and the track-focused GTD. This high-powered brute packs a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, the same engine as the GTD. Ford has yet to release power figures, but close to 800 hp is expected. Ford has also refined the suspension for track use and improved aerodynamics to generate more downforce. Deliveries of the Dark Horse SC are scheduled to begin this summer.

Porsche introduced an off-road Dakar version of the 911, and Lamborghini transformed the Huracan into a lifted supercar called the Sterrato. Why can’t Ford apply its Raptor off-road treatment to the Mustang? It might sound extreme, but we hear it will feature a naturally aspirated V-8 engine, all-wheel drive, and a lifted suspension with Fox Live Valve dampers. This limited-run, unconventional twist on the Mustang is expected to arrive in 2026 with a starting price of around $90,000.

Genesis
Genesis already offers a flagship sedan, but no luxury brand can operate without a top-tier crossover in today’s market. Introducing the upcoming GV90, a large, three-row electric SUV with the imposing presence and size expected of a range-topping model. Specs are uncertain, but the GV90 is expected to feature standard all-wheel drive, a range of around 250 miles, and an interior as opulent as the G90 sedan. It’s expected to arrive with a six-figure price tag sometime next year. The 2024 Neolun concept provided a preview of the upcoming SUV’s luxurious design.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is one of the most exhilarating EVs on the market. Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, is launching its own high-performance electric SUV with the GV60 Magma. The aggressive-looking crossover is the first model under the new Magma subbrand. The GV60 Magma mirrors the Ioniq 5 N with 601 horsepower and a boost function that increases output to 641 ponies. However, the Genesis produces more torque when boost mode is activated at 583 pound-feet and takes the Ioniq 5 N’s simulated gearshifts to the extreme by adjusting motor output based on gear selection. Fake exhaust sounds are also included, and the 4,938-pound GV60 Magma features a retuned suspension and improved braking. Sales are expected to commence in the U.S. in 2026.
