The Manufacturers
It’s a great time to be shopping for a monstrously powerful SUV. Every SUV on this list, save for one, has more than 700 horsepower. It’s a mix of electric powertrains, plug-in hybrid setups, and good-old-fashioned gasoline V-8s, but all of them are massively powerful. And it’s not all about on-road performance, either, as some of these SUVs even deliver supercar speed mixed with true off-road capability. Here are the most powerful SUVs on sale today.\n\nMore Car Rankings: Most Powerful Cars Under $40K | Most Powerful Small SUVs | Most Powerful Hybrid SUVs | Most Fun-to-Drive SUVs | Best Hybrid SUVs | Best SUVs | New Car Deals | Find a Car | Car Reviews | Car Buying\n\n11\n2026 Cadillac Escalade-V: 682 HP\n2025 cadillac escalade vCadillac\nPrice: $170,895\n\nIf your heart wants a Corvette but your mind knows that you need a three-row luxury SUV instead, the Cadillac Escalade-V could be the perfect compromise. No, the Escalade won’t keep pace with the Vette on a twisty road, but its 682-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 allows it to run through the quarter-mile in the high 12.0-second range, only about a second or so off the pace of a base Corvette. And it sounds incredible, too. Good thing there are 16-inch Brembo brakes up front. It’s also spacious inside and fitted with 55 inches of screens to control just about everything. The downside? It costs nearly $170,000.\n\nWe Drive the Escalade-V\n\n10\n2026 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat: 710 HP\n2026 dodge durango srt hellcat jailbreakView PhotosDodge\nPrice: $89,990\n\nThe Durango SRT Hellcat is the last of the supercharged V-8 beasts from Dodge (for now) and has been saved from death for yet another model year. This will go down as one of the most ridiculously fun and unapologetic SUVs of all time, packing a wild supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 710 horsepower. It will clobber the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds and pull all the way to a claimed top speed of 180 mph. And yet, you also get three rows of seating and the ability to tow 8700 pounds. The most expensive versions eclipse six figures, so shop carefully.\n\nTested: Durango Hellcat Is Old but Still Good\n\nAdvertisement – Continue Reading Below\n\n9\n2026 Ferrari Purosangue: 715 HP\n2024 ferrari purosangueView PhotosJonas Jungblut\nPrice: $435,000 (est)\n\nV-12-powered SUVs are rare. Currently, only the fancy-pants Rolls-Royce Cullinan and this Ferrari have such an engine. Of course, the one wearing the prancing horse badge hits way harder. Under the hood of the $400,000 Purosangue is a 715-hp 6.5-liter V-12 paired to an all-wheel-drive system that combine to rocket the Ferrari to 60 mph in just over 3.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 193 mph. Calling this an “SUV” might be a bit of a stretch considering there’s only room for four passengers and 17 cubic feet of space in the trunk. But the driving experience is typical Ferrari, which is to say nearly flawless.\n\nReview: Purosangue Is Brilliant but Flawed at the Same Time\n\n8\n2026 Aston Martin DBX S: 717 HP\n2026 aston martin dbx sView PhotosAston Martiin\nPrice: $282,000\n\nThe DBX is surprisingly practical, with a full complement of luxury trappings as well as 54 cubic feet of luggage space with the rear seats folded. And as is the case with every Aston, the DBX is very easy on the eyes. Thanks to a smartly tuned chassis and a full complement of drive modes, the 717-hp DBX allows for seamless transitions from hard canyon charging to the smooth ride needed for a daily commute. And in terms of all-out speed, this Aston can keep up with a Lamborghini Urus.\n\nReview: The DBX Could Be Peak Luxury SUV\n\nAdvertisement – Continue Reading Below\n\n7\n2026 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid: 729 HP\n2024 porsche cayenne turbo e hybridView PhotosPorsche\nPrice: $164,850\n\nIf the Lamborghini Urus SE is enticing but a little too ostentatious, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid () is probably your jam. The two vehicles share the same powertrain, although the Porsche has 60 fewer horses. But with 729 horsepower on board the Porsche, it’s doubtful you’ll miss them. The Cayenne can scramble to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Plus, you get all the same fun V-8 noises. What quiet cruising? The E-Hybrid has about 25 miles of electric driving range.\n\nThe Turbo E-Hybrid Is the Most Powerful Cayenne\n\n6\n2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ: 750 HP\nescalade iq\nPrice: $130,300\n\nThe Cadillac Escalade IQ is not only fully electric, it’s also even larger than the gas-powered Escalade, riding on a significantly longer wheelbase. It’s a battery-powered giant. It’s also far more powerful, with 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque on tap. That’s good for a 13.0 second quarter-mile time. Why not quicker? Well, thanks to the giant 205-kWh battery pack (enabling a 460-mile range), this Caddy weighs just over 9000 lbs. Put another way, the IQ weighs more than two 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams stacked on top of each other. Woof.\n\nTested: The EV Version of the Escalade Is a Baller\n\n5\n2026 Lamborghini Urus SE: 789 HP\n2025 lamborghini urus se phev hybridLamborghini\nPrice: $280,000 (est)\n\nIt’s fitting that the first gas-powered SUV on our list has a Lamborghini badge on its nose. The Urus SE does use a plug-in hybrid system to achieve its 789-hp power peak courtesy of a 25.9 kWh battery pack and a 189-hp electric motor sandwiched between the twin-turbo V-8 and 8-speed automatic transmission. It’s enough to scoot the brash and bold Lambo to 60 mph in just over 3.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 194 mph.\n\nThe Urus SE Is a Tire-Smoking Monster\n\n4\n2026 Tesla Model X Plaid: 1020 HP\n2026 tesla model x plaidView PhotosTesla\nPrice: $116,630\n\nTesla was a pioneer of EV power and speed, with the first Plaid performance models hitting the market five years ago. The 2026 version of its Model X SUV isn’t much different, with the same 1020-hp output. Find a clear stretch of pavement and the tri-motor Plaid will blister the road on its way to 60 mph in about 2.5 seconds. And Tesla’s Supercharger network makes electric road trips relatively painless. Love it or loathe it, the Model X’s Falcon Wing doors, optional yoke-style steering wheel, and stark interior make it a unique proposition.\n\nMore Info on the Refreshed Model X\n\nAdvertisement – Continue Reading Below\n\n3\n2026 Rivian R1S Quad-Motor: 1050 HP\n2025 rivian r1 california dune edition model r1s front three quarter view on sandy sound stageRivian\nPrice: $123,885\n\nThe electric Rivian R1S Quad-Motor over 1000 horses.
